F2: Joshua Duerksen signs with PHM Racing

Joshua Duerksen, a 20-year-old driver from Paraguay, will make his Formula 2 debut for PHM Racing next year.

He spent last season with Arden Motorsport in the European Formula Regional, climbing to the podium at Spa and taking 19th place in the individual competition.

Joshua Duerksen: “I am very happy to announce that I am moving to Formula 2, where I will drive for PHM Racing. This is an important step in my career and I can’t wait to take on this exciting new challenge. It is a great honor and privilege for me to become the first Paraguayan Formula 2 driver and to represent my country in this championship.

Now I will try to prepare myself as best as possible for the coming season together with the team. I will be getting to know a new car and new circuits, so the coming season will present some difficult challenges, but I will do my best.”

Duerksen made his debut in single-seater racing in 2019 and became vice-champion of the F4 UAE Winter Middle East Series. In the same season he competed in Italian and German F4, where he took 8th and 11th place respectively. In 2020 he made progress in Formula 4 in Germany, winning two races and reaching the podium four times, putting Joshua in 6th place in the drivers’ standings.

The following year he concentrated on Italian Formula 4 and also finished the season in 6th place, after which he moved to the European Formula Regional.

Durksen took part in the official F3 post-season test at Imola last month, completing 85 laps in the German team’s PHM Racing car.

Joshua will master Formula 2 technology during testing in Abu Dhabi, which will take place at the Yas Marina Circuit from November 29 to December 1.
