Wolff: The Las Vegas circuit has unique characteristics

The Mercedes team analyzed the reasons for the failed performance in Brazil and discovered what the mistakes were, according to Toto Wolff. The head of the factory team of the Stuttgart concern also spoke about the features of the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Toto Wolff: “Brazil was probably one of the toughest weekends of the season for us. After encouraging results in the US and Mexico, we underperformed our capabilities in Brazil.

We have done everything we can to find out where we went wrong in choosing the settings of the cars. We figured it out, understood what the mistakes were and were able to explain why we were losing speed compared to our rivals. It was important to do this as the team continues to challenge for second place in the Constructors’ Championship.

At the same time, we try to prepare ourselves as best as possible for the race on a completely unknown circuit. We have very limited information about what lies ahead in Las Vegas and expect the new track to have some unique features.

The weekend schedule has been shifted from the usual schedule we follow in other stages. The race will take place at night, when air and track temperatures will most likely be below ten degrees. To this we must add that the configuration of the ring is somewhat unusual: it has a lot of slow turns, but at the same time there are long straights. Great difficulties await us all, but we are prepared to face this challenge.

In addition, there will also be a lot of work off the track. We have a very extensive program for receiving guests, among other things, for this purpose we will fully occupy the three-story Vegas Club, located in the area of the 4th turn.

Press interest is expected to be overwhelming, and as the cars speed down the Las Vegas Strip, the spectacle will be one of the highlights of the season. The attention of the entire sporting world will be focused on Formula 1 and that is why we will try to provide an exciting show. Anyone who sees it will have an unforgettable experience.”
