In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Lando Norris, who extended his contract with McLaren until 2025, spoke of his dedication to the team and confidence in the rapid progress…
Lando Norris: “For me McLaren is the best team. Anyone who thinks otherwise does not understand it. I don’t know why, but they talk about what I could have done, what I could have done, but most of the time they know absolutely nothing about it. Sometimes people talk about it, who I respect, as well as their opinion, but I made a different decision.
I function in a good team, surrounded by experienced professionals. We know where I want to be, what I want to achieve – and what the team can offer me. I still believe McLaren is the best place for me. I look forward to the long term, work for the future and do not want to change anything.
Daniel Ricciardo’s example shows how difficult it is to switch teams. I’ve never been in a situation like this, it’s hard for me to speak on behalf of other people, but you see how many other riders, not just Daniel, can’t adapt for a long time after the transition. It takes time. One can do it faster than the other, but that shows how difficult it is. Modern machines are difficult to control, you literally have to know all the features to attack at the limit.
