Magnussen: The race in Las Vegas is the most advertised

In an interview with the team’s press office, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen shared his thoughts about the Grand Prix of Las Vegas, which will be held at the city circuit next weekend.

Question: How excited are you about the upcoming Formula 1 event in Las Vegas?
Kevin Magnussen: The Las Vegas Grand Prix is the most hyped race I have ever done. We are all curious to see how the next stage will go. We know that the circuit is quite unique because of the long straights, and we have to keep a close eye on the weather. We’ll see how cold it actually gets, but low temperatures can be a real challenge for everyone. In general, it will be very interesting!

Q: What can you say about the track itself?
Kevin Magnussen: Before the stage in Brazil I could hardly say anything about her. After the stage in Sao Paulo I switched completely to Las Vegas – I worked on the simulator on the track and learned corners. Now I can’t wait to personally drive this city highway.

Question: At night, the air temperature in Las Vegas can drop to +5C degrees. How does this affect the car?
Kevin Magnussen: If it really gets that cold at night, it will be a very difficult job to get your tires up to operating temperature. The result is a spectacular race in which everything will depend on warming up the tires. High downforce can help with this, but we’ll see how it goes.

Question: The Las Vegas race is the finale of the US season and the final home race for the team. How do you evaluate performances on home stages and how do they differ from other Grand Prix?
Kevin Magnussen: I think racing in the US is special. They are new to Formula 1, but in a way our sport is also new to the United States. Local stages are more like a show and have a special atmosphere.

Being the only American team adds extra pressure because we have to succeed. It’s a lot of fun when we earn points in the American stages of the championship.
