Alfa Romeo hopes to compete for points in Las Vegas

The penultimate stage of the season will be held in Las Vegas for the first time this year and promises to be a fantastic event in every respect. The Alfa Romeo team has a special reason to prepare for it as best as possible: it was in ‘Sin City’, as it is often called, that Bruno Giacomelli, driving an Alfa Romeo 179C, came third finished in the Grand Prix. named after Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino.

This season, Alfa Romeo drivers can only dream of a repeat of that success, as the car does not allow them to fight for such high positions. However, on city circuits, especially on completely new ones, events can sometimes take an unexpected turn.

Valtteri Bottas: “I’m looking forward to racing in Las Vegas this weekend. When a Grand Prix takes place on a new circuit it is always interesting and in recent years we have seen more than once that they manage to put on a quality show in America.

It is of course a shame that my race in Brazil, which covered a series of three stages in a row, ended in a retirement, especially because it seemed to us that we had a chance to earn points. However, there are still two races before the end of the season and we are all in a fighting mood.

We are waiting to meet a new track whose characteristics have yet to be understood, so it is very important to collect as much information as possible during training, be competitive in qualifying and try to start from favorable positions.

And if we do well, we can compete with our nearest rivals for places in the top ten.”

Guanyu Zhou: “The series of three races in a row did not go as we expected, and that is something we can only regret as we missed several points opportunities, especially two weeks ago in Brazil.

The team analyzed the reasons why Valtteri and I had to withdraw from the race to prevent such an outcome from happening again. But these problems are a thing of the past and now we are preparing for the last two races of the season, the first of which will be the Las Vegas stage.

This is my first time in this city and I can’t wait to get to the real track as soon as possible, because so far we only know it from the virtual model on the simulator.

The city is located in the Nevada desert and at night it can be quite cold there, so interesting conditions await us, to which it is important to immediately adapt correctly.

We are determined to fight for good results in both Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi, so we will try to earn points again. We must reward the team for all the efforts they have put in throughout the season and also thank the fans for their continued support.

“Vegas is known for its entertainment industry and hopefully we can put on a quality show for the crowd.”
