The holding of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and the construction of the circuit caused many problems for local residents. Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei even had to apologize to Las Vegas residents for the inconvenience.
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton also takes the position that holding races should not have a negative impact on people living near the circuit.
“I heard there were a lot of complaints from local residents,” said Lewis Hamilton at the AMG x IWC conference in Las Vegas. “I think we should treat the people who live here with respect. They work hard and bring in a lot of money for the city and our entire industry. In return, we must show care for them.
We cannot afford to be a circus that looks like it is full of glitz and glamor but has a negative impact on people.”
