A court in the Italian city of Lucca has convicted two thieves who stole a Ferrari Formula One driver’s watch. Charles Leclerc to 10 years and 8 months in prison, reports Eurosport Italia.
An accomplice who arrested Leclerc under the pretext of taking a selfie was also sentenced to 6 years and 5 months in prison. Another attacker awaits sentencing.
In April 2022, a limited edition watch worth two million euros was stolen from a Monegasque. The incident happened in the evening when the rider was walking after dinner. Police reported that several fans recognized the Formula 1 driver and asked to take photos with him. The attackers managed to remove the watch from Leclerc’s hands; When the runner discovered that she was missing, the thieves had already fled on a scooter. A month after the incident, the watch was sold in Spain for 200 thousand euros.
Leclerc currently occupies seventh place in the individual rankings with 170 points. The next stage of the Grand Prix will take place from November 17 to 19 in Las Vegas (USA).
