Haas brought an updated car to Austin, but the new items prevented the American team from improving. As a result, it was decided to offer the drivers in Las Vegas the car they prefer: Kevin Magnussen will continue to use the updated version of the VF-23 and Nico Hulkenberg will spend the race weekend in the car with the previous specification.
Nico Hulkenberg: “We drove three races with the new car. We saw some small improvements, but there were also some not so good aspects. This wasn’t the step forward we needed with such a major update.
Driving the previous version of the car I feel more comfortable and confident, which is important on the next two circuits. That is why this decision has been made.
Neither option is good enough. We have to do our job better, find a way to get faster, rethink our decisions and work harder.”
