Lando Norris: The MCL60’s weaknesses will be visible in Las Vegas

Lando Norris admitted that the Las Vegas circuit, with its long straights and relatively low downforce settings, could expose McLaren’s weaknesses.

Lando Norris: “The atmosphere in Las Vegas is a bit different – the race is at night, lots of glamour, glitz and all that, but for us it’s just another race weekend. I am focused, controlled and believe that everyone here will have opportunities to excel, because for the time being everyone has a lot of questions and we have to be prepared for a lot.

During training we will have more time to adapt to the track than during the previous stage, which was a sprint, so we must try to prepare as best as possible for qualifying.

I prefer not to make predictions because I am always wrong, but I am very happy with our results recently, especially in Mexico and Brazil, because we managed to perform much better than we expected, especially in Sao Paulo .

There we were well ahead of most of our rivals and not that far behind Red Bull for a large part of the race. But in Las Vegas it will be more difficult for us: this song is more reminiscent of Baku, where we did not perform well. It is clear that on long straights and low downforce the weaknesses of the McLaren car will come to the fore. Since there aren’t many tracks of this type during the season, we didn’t focus on that when upgrading the MCL60.

Overall, before this weekend we are not as confident as in several previous stages, but on the other hand it is still difficult to say what awaits us. In any case, we will try to perform as confidently as possible to earn as many points as possible and also have fun.”
