The car in which the British driver Lewis Hamilton won his first victory for Mercedes in Formula 1, was sold at auction for 18 million 815 thousand dollars, according to the official auction website RM Sotheby’s.
As noted in the lot description, the Briton drove the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 W04 in 14 of the 19 races in the 2013 season, including the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he won. It was Hamilton’s first time driving for Mercedes, for whom he has driven since 2013.
Hamilton is a seven-time Formula One champion, winning six titles with the German team. This season, Hamilton, 38, is third in the individual standings with 226 points after 20 races.
The next stop of the Grand Prix will take place in Las Vegas on November 19.
