For the Dutch driver, this victory was the 53rd of his Formula 1 career, he tied the number of victories with German driver Sebastian Vettel.

Verstappen now ranks third in history for most Grand Prix victories, sharing this feat with Vettel. The leaders of this ranking are the German Michael Schumacher with 91 victories and the British Lewis Hamilton with 103 victories.

At 26, Verstappen became Formula 1 world champion ahead of schedule for the third time this season.
