In Vegas, Esteban Ocon finished 4th after starting from 16th, and Pierre Gasly, on the other hand, started 4th and earned no points…
Esteban Ocon (4th): “Great night in Las Vegas! I started far behind, but was able to fight back and finished fourth.
On the first lap we managed to regain eight places in one go, and then it was important to maintain concentration and keep an eye on the condition of the tires. I made some good overtakes and finished fourth on this great track – a great result after a poor qualifying. We will look to build on this success next week in Abu Dhabi, where the final race of the season will take place.”
Pierre Gasly (11th): “I’m disappointed. Because I started fourth, I couldn’t earn any points. We need to find out the reasons – we were counting on a completely different result.
I had a good start, spent the first stint confidently and stayed in the top five, but after switching to Hard the tires quickly grained and the car lost grip on the asphalt.
The day ended badly for me, but overall it was a positive weekend – in qualifying I showed the fourth fastest time, today Esteban finished fourth. I’ll try to do better next week.”
