On the last stage in Las Vegas, Lando Norris crashed his car – the impact was severe, the overload sensor tripped and as a precaution Lando was sent to the hospital. On the eve of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the McLaren driver said he was feeling good and ready to get behind the wheel again.
Lando Norris: “The season finale is here! The Las Vegas Grand Prix didn’t end the way I wanted, but I feel good and am ready to get behind the wheel again. Thanks to everyone in the team who worked hard to get my car ready for the weekend ahead. And thanks to all the fans who have messaged me over the past few days.
The season is like a roller coaster. Think back to where we started and look where we are thanks to the hard work of everyone on the team. We will do our best to earn as many points as possible for the team in the season finale. Come on!”
Oscar Piastri: “I’m looking forward to returning to Abu Dhabi. I have fond memories of this circuit, linked to performances in the junior series, and last year I did my first youth tests here with McLaren.
The 2023 season was dynamic in many ways and I learned a lot. I will remember some of the results for the rest of my life, but now we want to end the season as best as possible together with the team. The final push is coming, and the incredible motivation of everyone working on the track and at the grassroots will allow us to do this.”
Andrea Stella, team manager: “We have come to the end of a long flying season. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is an important stage for us as we continue to compete in the Constructors’ Championship. We are looking forward to the coming weekend in a better mood than the previous one, as the Yas Marina circuit should suit our car better.
I have to say I’m proud of all the people at McLaren on track and in Woking. The entire team has worked hard after a difficult start to the season in Bahrain, which means we are now not only fighting for points, but also for podium positions. We will use the opportunity ahead to end the season in the best possible way.”
