In 2021, streaming service Netflix released the documentary Schumacher, which tells about the career and previously unknown facts from the life of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. The film received high marks from both audiences and critics.
However, Michael Schumacher’s personality is so unique that various directors and studios continue to film their own versions of the famous racer’s biography. The documentary series Being Michael Schumacher, directed by Andreas Troll, will be released in Germany in December. Five episodes tell the story of how Michael went from a child who first rode a go-kart to a motor racing legend.
Numerous interviews were recorded during the filming of the series, both with Michael’s friends and family members and with rivals. These include David Coulthard, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Norbert Haug, Ross Brawn and Jean Todt. In addition, the series uses images from the personal archive of the seven-time world champion.
The release of the series ‘Being Michael Schumacher’ coincides with the tenth anniversary of the tragedy in the French Alps, when the driver suffered serious head injuries from which he never recovered.
