In 2024, Mick Schumacher will continue his career in endurance racing. The son of the seven-time world champion has signed a contract with the Alpine team and will be part of one of the team’s two squads in the FIA WEC championship in the Hypercar category.
Mick Schumacher: “For me, a new chapter begins with Alpine in the Hypercar category in the FIA WEC. I’m very impressed with the car so I can’t wait to get started.
I grew up with single-seat racing cars, but driving a car with a closed cockpit and closed wheels is a great opportunity to hone my skills. This year I really missed racing because I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. Sometimes it was difficult for me to watch other riders on the track.
Endurance racing is a new challenge for me. I am confident that we will share great moments together with Alpine next year.”
The Mercedes team has confirmed that Mick Schumacher will remain their reserve driver in 2024 and will combine work in Formula 1 with performance in the FIA WEC.
