Sargent: I don’t know yet whether I will stay with Williams in 2024

In Las Vegas, Logan Sargent showed his best qualifying result of the season – on a difficult and slippery city circuit he started from the third row and promised to perform no less confidently in Abu Dhabi.

Logan Sargent: “When we drove into Las Vegas, we knew this track with its long straights was right for our car. But overall the lower temperatures helped us that weekend and allowed us to run the car more efficiently. It even helped that the straights were quite slippery, but we felt more comfortable in these conditions than in other conditions.

For the first time since the start of the season, before qualifying in Las Vegas, we knew we would be able to go from one session to the next with some reserve. Personally, this allowed me to calmly and gradually increase my speed with each successive lap, reach the second part of qualifying where I rode even more confidently, and by the time we started the final session everything was fine.

As a result, my partner and I started from the third row, which was an excellent reward for the entire Williams team for their hard work. We continued to work hard all weekend, so we were disappointed that we couldn’t show better results in the race.

To be honest, I don’t know yet whether I will stay in the team in 2024, but I have tried to prepare for each stage of the season separately and it seems to me that I have noticeably improved in terms of driving. At the season finale in Abu Dhabi I will try to perform my duties to the best of my ability and I don’t see any problems that could hinder me.

The biggest lesson I learned this year is to appreciate the effort it takes to consistently perform at the highest possible level every day. In the youth formulas, even if the day was mediocre, you still had a chance to break through into the leading group, but in Formula 1 that does not happen. Here you have to try to pick up the pace every day and that was the most important lesson for me.”
