From his position as head of the Mercedes team, Toto Wolff commented on the ongoing discussions about possible contacts between Lewis Hamilton and the management of Red Bull Racing.
The seven-time world champion claims he has had no negotiations with this team, although he admitted he received messages from Christian Horner inviting him to talk.
In the paddock of the Yas Marina circuit, Wolff did not hide that he did not like the way Horner acted in this situation; in an interview with the British tabloid Daily Mail, he claimed that representatives of Hamilton’s entourage approached him and offered to discuss the prospects for possible cooperation.
“We don’t understand what Christian is thinking when he says such things,” Wolff said. “And this is what happened: through the agency we work with, he wanted to inquire about contacts to negotiate a place in his team. It was Christian who tried to find out if Lewis would be available for negotiations.
