Esteban Ocon: I don’t feel so good

Pierre Gasly completed both Friday training sessions in Abu Dhabi with Alpine and set the ninth fastest time in the second session. Esteban Ocon missed the first practice, lost the car to Jack Duane and returned to the wheel in the second practice. The French racer said he has not yet fully recovered from his illness, but this will not stop him.

Pierre Gasly (10th): “The race weekend in Abu Dhabi started interestingly, but the duration of the second practice was shortened due to two red flags. First of all, I’m glad that Carlos Sainz is doing well, because the blow was hard.

If we talk about us, the day turned out to be quite ordinary. I think the team is in shape, but now it is important to work hard in the evening to improve our qualifications. I’m comfortable behind the wheel, we’ll see what tomorrow brings.”

Esteban Ocon (14th): “The last Friday training of the season did not start in the best way. Unfortunately I became seriously ill on Wednesday and when I arrived in the paddock this morning I wasn’t feeling particularly well.

During the first session Jack drove my car – he tested many different elements. He had good training and immediately achieved pole position in Formula 2 – a great result!

The second practice was interrupted twice by red flags, allowing us to complete a few laps. We have tried to get the most out of the program, so I want to get back behind the wheel tomorrow and do more laps before qualifying. We have the potential to improve.”
