Bottas: It is still difficult to assess the balance of power

Alfa Romeo drivers looked good in Abu Dhabi on Friday, but the situation could change tomorrow…

Valtteri Bottas (4th): “It’s nice to finish both sessions in fourth place, but it’s still difficult to judge the balance of power. Everything went unusually on Friday: many newcomers took part in the first training session, the second was interrupted twice by red flags, which made long series of laps impossible.

However, we completed the entire day’s program, the car was in order and that makes us optimistic. On Saturday it is important to qualify for the final in order to perform successfully in the race.”

Guanyu Zhou (7th): “Good day. I’m glad I was able to get up to speed quickly despite the red flags. I felt comfortable and there were no balance problems. Wonderful start to the weekend!

It’s nice to see that we quickly got used to it and that the new products work. It’s only Friday, but we’re already in the institutions. In the evening we will think about how we can improve tomorrow, as our opponents will certainly improve.”

Theo Gieter (14th in first practice): “I am incredibly excited to get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car and am grateful to the team for their confidence and the opportunity to contribute. I’m glad that after missing training in Mexico today, we had a productive session.

The condition of the track left a lot to be desired, but with each lap I felt more and more comfortable. I’m happy to have been able to help the team and look forward to getting back behind the wheel for testing after the end of the season.”
