Five races in six weeks is too much…

At a press conference on Friday, team leaders admitted that five races in six weeks is too many…

Mike Krak (Aston Martin): “Yes, we discussed the schedule for the Vegas stage. The schedule was worked out in advance, but everyone was very tired: racers, engineers, mechanics. Our team has done well, but we need to make adjustments moving forward.”

Christian Hoorner (Red Bull Racing): “The schedule is very tough. Five races in six weeks at the end of the season is very difficult for the staff going to the Grand Prix. Everything is made even more complicated by the time difference.

In Vegas we actually lived and worked in the Japanese time zone, and with Abu Dhabi there is a twelve hour difference. We have discussed this issue with Formula 1 and the FIA. It is not easy for their employees either. Solutions are now being developed that will make life a little easier for all of us.”

Andrea Stella (McLaren): “This series of races proved difficult for the staff, for everyone. We will draw conclusions within the team so that we can deal with this better in the future. Optimizing employees’ work schedules and reducing workload is one of the most discussed topics in Formula 1. At McLaren we take this very seriously.”
