Vasser: We lose four points, but it won’t be easy to win back

Frederic Vasseur, the head of the Ferrari team, spoke before qualifying in Abu Dhabi about the tasks facing the Scuderia in the season finale.

Frederic Vasseur: “The season has already lasted nine months, 21 races are behind us and before the last Abu Dhabi Grand Prix we are only four points behind Mercedes. It’s an interesting challenge, so we’ll see how the remaining two days go, but the fight will be very intense.

We have come back well, because at one point in the season we were sixty points behind, and now only four, but it will be difficult to win them back, we understand that, because Mercedes are showing good pace this weekend. . But if we can stay ahead of this team in the last race, that will be good. The situation in the individual championship is a different story; In that respect the season was too chaotic for us.”

When Vasseur was asked about next year’s car, how similar it would be to the SF-23, he laughed, assured that the new Ferrari would be red and added: “It will certainly be an evolution of the current chassis , but still I hope we are taking a step forward. The SF-23 does not have a stable handling and its behavior varied from race to race, so when working on the new chassis we pay more attention to the handling.

This car is not only difficult to drive, but also difficult to adjust, so it is important to improve stability.”
