In Abu Dhabi, Williams drivers did not qualify for the final qualifying round. Alex Albon set a 14th fastest time and all of Logan Sargent’s laps were canceled due to off-track excursions…
Alex Albon (14th): “In the second part of qualifying I did a worse lap than in the first – the tires overheated very quickly. When the track gets faster and your speed increases, there aren’t enough for the third sector. In this situation you have to monitor the condition of the tires during qualifying, which makes it more difficult. I’m a little angry, but we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.
Overheating will also be an issue during the race, with most drivers choosing between a one-stop and two-stop strategy. In long series everything is more or less normal for us, tomorrow we will do everything in our power.”
Logan Sargent (20th): “Two of my laps were canceled due to exceeding the limits of the track, but this is my fault. I’m disappointed, even though I was fast this weekend from the first round on Friday.
It’s a shame I don’t have anything to show after qualifying. We’ll move on and try to catch up tomorrow. It felt like the car was fast on Friday with a lot of fuel.”
