Charles Leclerc starts second in Abu Dhabi and hopes to reach the podium…
Charles Leclerc: “The qualifying result was a big surprise because we did not expect such a high starting position. Now we have to do 58 laps and finish the job. It will be difficult to keep second position, but I will do my best because I have nothing to lose. All that matters is second place in the constructors’ championship.
We must concentrate on our own task and do our best. I plan to compete with Mercedes on the track. The McLaren drivers are fast over the race distance, we expect Mercedes to be fast too and Red Bull will be the fastest.
The race will be difficult. Tire wear will be critical and should be closely monitored. I hope we can do as well as we did on the last stage in Las Vegas and that there will be no other problems.”
