Alex Albon and Logan Sargent’s main task in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was to prevent AlphaTauri from gaining enough points to dislodge Williams from 7th place in the Constructors’ Championship. We can say that this task is completed.
Alex Albon (14th): “I had a good race, although I couldn’t call it the best, as the start was not successful, but it seems we were able to make up for that in the second and third stages. Unfortunately, Yuki Tsunoda was too fast for us and we could not influence his race in any way, but hard work throughout the year allowed us to take 7th place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Congratulations to the team, to everyone working both on the track and at the base in Grove. If we evaluate the progress we have made, this can be considered an excellent achievement. I am also proud of my results this year, because I have never performed so well in Formula 1.
Thanks to the good relationship we built with the team, we had a good season, even though we really had to fight for positions. We will have some big challenges to overcome next year, but I am already excited about what lies ahead.”
Logan Sargent (16th): “First of all, congratulations to the entire team, as Williams managed to maintain 7th place in the Constructors’ Championship. Everyone has worked hard to achieve this.
I was unlucky at the start and lost one or two positions. Moreover, we lacked a bit of pace. We deliberately did not optimize our tactics because we tried to hold Daniel Ricciardo back for as long as possible. I’m proud of the way I defended against him for a few rounds to help the team in some way.
I enjoyed finishing the race on a new set of hard tires. I worked my way through the pack, doing laps at almost a qualifying pace. Personally speaking, it was another good weekend.
During my debut season there were both hard and good times. But in the second half of the year I actually managed to improve something. My race pace kept improving and qualifying also started to work. I am proud of the tenacity I showed all year and never gave up. I will continue to attack and Williams is the best team I could have spent this season with.”
