Qualification

After winning qualifying in Abu Dhabi, Max Verstappen achieved the 32nd pole position of his career, equaling Nigel Mansell in this indicator.

Charles Leclerc set the second fastest time and started from the front row for the fifth time in a row.

Oscar Piastri qualified third and became the first teammate of Lando Norris to beat him in Abu Dhabi.

George Russell showed the fourth fastest time – this is the best start by a Briton at Yas Marina.

Sixth place in qualifying is the best result in Yuki Tsunoda’s career.

Lewis Hamilton lost to his teammate in qualifying, they finished the season with a score of 11 – 11, no other team had such an even fight.

Race

After winning the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Max Verstappen achieved the 54th victory of his career and the 19th of the season – no one has won so many races in a year before.

A few more records from Max – a fourth win in a row at the same circuit, ten wins in a row, 21 podium finishes in the season, 575 points and the largest lead over the nearest rival – 290 points.

After qualifying with the fastest lap and winning the race, Verstappen scored his eleventh career hat-trick, equaling Jim Clark. He now trails only Hamilton (19 hat tricks) and Michael Schumacher (22 hat tricks).

Verstappen is the only driver to have driven every race in the 2023 season.

Charles Leclerc finished second behind Verstappen in Abu Dhabi for the second year in a row.

George Russell finished third and reached the podium for the second time this season.

AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda took the lead in a Grand Prix for the first time in his career, becoming the second Japanese driver to do so, after Takuma Sato at the Nürburgring in 2004.
