On Tuesday, Ayumu Iwasa drove the AlphaTauri during the youth tests in Abu Dhabi. The Japanese racer completed 96 laps and set the fifteenth fastest time. Due to technical problems with the car, the Japanese driver had to end the evening session early.
The team’s main drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda, took part in tire tests and worked under the Pirelli program, completing 55 and 59 laps respectively.

The morning program was designed so that I would gradually increase my pace, and not immediately rush to the limit. I was able to attack more during the day when I switched to new sets of tires.
Unfortunately, there were technical problems with the car before the last fast lap, which forced us to end the work prematurely. We don’t know exactly what the reason is yet, but the team is investigating.
I enjoyed today, gained a lot of experience and learned a lot about the car, the circuit and the team. Everything I learned today will help me immensely in the future.”
