Jos Verstappen: Max wants to be left alone

In 2023, Max Verstappen won 19 races and became a three-time world champion. The father of Red Bull Racing driver Jos Verstappen said that Max will stop thinking about Formula 1 until mid-January and allow himself things that were impossible during the season due to the sports regime.

“Max had a very strong season, he gave 100% in every race and did not let failures throw him off balance,” Jos Verstappen told German Sky. “That happened on Saturday in Abu Dhabi: the car was poorly controlled in the third practice, but qualifying went well. This is the power of Max and his racing engineers. They understand what he needs, which is great.

For Max, the winter break means that he will eat and drink what he wants and not think about Formula 1 for a while, which is very important to recharge his batteries. He wants to be left alone and not talk about Formula 1. But he will resume preparations for the season in mid-January.

Max is not tired, but he is happy that the season is over. Many team members even became a little ill due to overexertion. Five races in six weeks on three continents is tough.

24 stages are planned for next year and for me this is already a lot. I don’t know how many races the limit will be for Max, but he will certainly honor his contract.”
