Formula 2 post-season testing continued in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. The best time of the day was set by Rodin Carlin driver Zane Maloney, who set a lap of 1:35.783 in the first session.
The tests started without incident. The riders gradually increased the speed, testing different settings and towards the middle of the session they completed a fast series of laps on soft tires. Then the drivers switched to long series of laps, performing a simulated race. The races were not interrupted by red flags; Viktor Martin drove the longest distance: 59 laps.
The afternoon session saw a long series of laps, but unlike the morning session, testing was interrupted twice by red flags. First, Joshua Duerksen stopped in turn two. The second red flag came after Zach O’Sullivan stopped in turn seven.
After testing resumed, the drivers completed several high-speed series. The best time was reserved for Formula 3 champion Gabriel Bortoleto – 1:36.381 s. Amaury Cordil rode the longest distance: 74 laps.
The last day of Formula 2 testing will take place in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
