Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez won 21 of the 22 races in 2023, but champion team boss Christian Horner says there is no guarantee of continued dominance in 2024. As an example he cited the Mercedes team, which after a successful 2020 lost the title in 2021.
“I think they will overtake us next season,” says Christian Horner. – We already saw this in 2020 with the example of Mercedes. If I remember correctly, they have never had such dominance as in that season, but already in 2021 we were able to stay ahead of them.
The regulations are relatively stable, but nothing stands still. We have already seen that on some circuits the rivals are closing in on us, and I am sure that the concepts of the cars of different teams will come closer.
I don’t think we can ever repeat a season like this. However, I hope we will take the lessons learned with the RB19 and build an RB20 car with which we can defend these titles.”
