Only a few days have passed since the end of the Formula 1 season and preparations for the new season are already in full swing. Pirelli has announced the tire compounds for the first three stages of 2024: the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the Australian Grand Prix.
For 2024, Pirelli’s slick line has been reduced from six to five compounds: C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5. It was decided to omit the most difficult C0, which was never used last season.
Tire manufacturers will bring three hard links to Bahrain: C1, C2 and C3. At the Saudi circuit in Jeddah, the drivers get one step softer tires: C2, C3 and C4. On the stage in Melbourne, Pirelli decided to take the softest three: C3, C4 and C5. This is a step softer than last season.
All Formula 1 drivers can test all five slicks during the pre-season tests in Bahrain, which will take place from February 21 to 23.
In 2024, the FSC logo will appear on Pirelli Formula 1 tires for the first time, indicating that this line has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The logo ensures that tire plantations are managed in a way that conserves biodiversity and benefits local communities and workers, increasing economic sustainability.
