Mexican Pato O’Ward has attracted a lot of attention lately as he had his first practice session behind the wheel of a McLaren MCL60 in Abu Dhabi and performed very well in testing last Tuesday.
And now it has been revealed that he is part of one of the United Autosports crews preparing for January’s 24 Hours of Daytona marathon.
“Pato O’Ward will drive for United Autosports at the 24 Hours of Daytona – a great way to start the season! Don’t let us down, Pato! – said Zak Brown, who not only runs McLaren Racing, but is also co-owner of United Autosports.
Pato’s teammates in crew number 2 of the Oreca 07 sports prototype are Ben Keating, Ben Hanley and Nico Pino.
O’Ward has previous experience at Daytona, including winning the race twice in two different categories: in 2016 in the Prototype Challenge with Performance Tech Motorsports and last year in the LMP2 class with DragonSpeed.
In addition to O’Ward, the other United Autosports crew at Daytona includes the Swede Felix Rosenqvist, with whom Pato until recently competed for Arrow McLaren in the IndyCar Series.
