Yesterday, citing the famous British journalist Joe Savard, we told the essence of his reasoning about the future fate of Sergio Perez.
Red Bull is clearly unhappy that the Mexican lacks stability and is too far behind his teammate Max Verstappen, especially in qualifying. Although Perez was not retained in the squad for next season, this has not stopped the periodic waves of rumors that a replacement for him is being prepared.
Savard responded to yet another wave, and it is clear that he is not making up such rumors himself – this is just one of the topics discussed in the paddock of Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit. However, its publication caused a wave of a different nature, and this is what Joe writes about it:
“I’m tired of Perez fans insulting me because they don’t like the stories I tell. If I didn’t believe in what was in my articles, I wouldn’t write them.
I was accused of racism and xenophobia, people wished harm on me and even my family. And they were all fans of Sergio Perez. I’ve blocked about two hundred for insults. Most of them didn’t even read the text I wrote.”
The problem Savard writes about is not new, and from time to time some team has to respond to it, including the Red Bull Racing team that found itself in a similar situation. The FIA is also actively fighting against this.
Of course, we must regret that Formula 1 has long ceased to be an exception, and that the phenomenon of our lifetime, called “hait”, now has a full influence on motor racing. Joe Savard became one of his victims.
