Vettel: I hope Mick gets another chance in Formula 1

In 2024, Mick Schumacher will make his debut in the World Endurance Championship with the Alpine factory team, but he will remain Mercedes’ reserve driver in Formula 1.

Sebastian Vettel is happy for his younger friend and believes Mick made the right decision, especially as he himself advised him to give the WEC a try.

“I think it is very good for Mick that his career continues, that he gets behind the wheel of a racing car again and starts racing,” said the four-time world champion in an interview with RTL. “I think that’s the most important thing at his age.” On the other hand, he still has the opportunity to stay in Formula 1, not lose touch with this championship and continue to gain experience and knowledge.

I wish him all the best for the future and hope he gets another chance in Formula 1.”

Another former driver, Christian Danner, is less optimistic: “Participating in the World Endurance Championship is not a ticket back to Formula 1 and under no circumstances does it give a chance of a return. It’s a completely different competition.”
