Sargent’s accident cost Williams more than $4 million

Last week we ranked last season’s most effective drivers based on one point earned. The most financially profitable driver of 2023 was Oscar Piastri. Reddit users made another rating: the most expensive racer, calculating how much it cost the teams to repair cars after accidents.

It turned out that another rookie from last season, Logan Sargent, is in the lead in these rankings. The American driver’s accident cost Williams more than four million dollars. The most expensive stage for Williams was the Dutch Grand Prix – Sargent crashed the car twice in Zandvoort for a total of $1.4 million.

Carlos Sainz took second place in the rankings. The Spanish driver’s accidents in Las Vegas and Abu Dhabi cost Ferrari two million. Damage to the car in Monaco, Canada and Belgium brought the total cost of restoring the car to $3.6 million.

Third in the ranking of most expensive drivers was world vice champion Sergio Perez. Last season his accidents cost Red Bull Racing $3.2 million. The most expensive was Perez’s accident in Monaco, after which car repairs cost more than a million dollars.

The least amount of money was needed to repair the damage to Max Verstappen’s car: $345,000. Max damaged the side pontoon in Baku after contact with George Russell’s car, at Silverstone he broke the front wing leaving the pit lane, and in Las Vegas he damaged the front wing again after contact with Russell.
