We wrote about the American Trackhouse Racing team two years in a row, since their No. 91 car was driven by Kimi Raikkonen in the NASCAR race. She once surprised everyone by signing a contract with the 2007 world champion, who at that time had already completed his career in Formula 1.
Now she surprises again by revealing plans for 2024: her team will debut in MotoGP next season. Of course, NASCAR Trackhouse will continue to compete as well – driver Ross Chastain, by the way, took a very respectable 9th place at the end of the last championship.
But now she will have her own team in world motorsport – this has probably never happened before, so that drivers from one team compete in both NASCAR and MotoGP. Today it was announced that Spaniard Raul Fernandez and Portuguese Miguel Oliveira will represent Trackhouse in the premier class of motorcycle racing.
The team has already signed the necessary agreements with Aprilia and will be based in Noale, as the headquarters of the famous Italian two-wheeled vehicle manufacturer is in the same city in the province of Venice. Consequently, Trackhouse Racing MotoGP will receive factory support, even though the Motorcycle Racing World Championship is traditionally dominated by the Aprilia Racing team.
“This is a pivotal moment for Trackhouse Entertainment Group,” said Justin Marks, founder and co-owner of the company. “From the first day of Trackhouse’s existence, we have strived to create a company that, operating in an entertainment field such as technical sports, would become one of the most highly regarded in the world. Our participation in MotoGP is the next step in realizing our vision.”
It’s worth adding that Trackhouse will be the only American team in MotoGP. There are currently no American motorcycle racers in this category.
