Esteban Ocon has no doubts that Oscar Piastri will soon find a place in the first team of one of the Formula 1 teams.
The 21-year-old Australian is regarded as one of the most talented drivers of the new generation, as evidenced by his achievements, winning prestigious youth championships such as Formula 3 and Formula 2 on the first attempt.
But for now he has to settle for Alpine’s reserve pilot contract and this year Oscar is working on the simulator and he is also promised participation in Friday practice.
“Oscar is a great guy. I want to say that he plays the most active role in the team’s work, – said Okon. “Alpine has planned an intensive testing program for him, which will allow him to become the best prepared debutant.
I’m pretty sure he’ll get a spot in Formula 1 soon. I don’t know which team, but the opportunities are open to those who deserve them. Oscar is one of those. He has won titles in all major series, he is distinguished by high professionalism and determination. So I have no doubt that we will see him at the World Cup soon.”
Fernando Alonso also agrees with his partner: “Of course Oscar is very talented – it shows in the fact that he won titles in all youth categories. He is a great professional and a real hard worker, he works on the simulator and based on the team, he participates in all our meetings, but he is still young and let’s hope he signs a contract soon.”
