Recently, the Italian Gazzetta dello Sport reported, based on sources, that Ferrari had practically agreed on a new contract with Charles Leclerc until the end of 2029. If the document is signed, Charles’ collaboration with the Maranello team will last 13 years – from the moment he was accepted into the Ferrari Racing Academy.
Normally drivers do not stay with one team for so long, but Red Bull Racing head Christian Horner sees nothing surprising in the fact that the Monegasque was offered such a long-term contract.
Christian Horner: “This is a completely natural step. Charles is a great driver and I have no doubt they will want to keep him. It would be crazy if Ferrari didn’t offer him a new deal.”
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff agrees with Horner: “I don’t know anything about their contract situation, but Leclerc is a great driver. Why wouldn’t Ferrari sign a contract with him?”
