The working group will focus on hydrogen technologies

We wrote that the FIA ​​​​and the Extreme E series have decided to join forces and organize a new off-road world championship, where the cars will be equipped with hydrogen power plants, now some details have emerged .

The prototype Extreme H (hydrogen) chassis will undergo initial testing at the end of December, ahead of an extensive testing program in early 2024.

Formula 1 will help the transition to hydrogen engines. A hydrogen working group has been formed, including Formula 1 technical director Pat Symonds, FIA single-seater director Nicholas Tombasis and Extreme E technical director Mark Grain.

The group’s aim is to monitor the progress and development of hydrogen technologies, both for fuel cells and battery systems that will be used in Extreme H, as well as hydrogen technologies in race track infrastructure, transport, charging, storage and safety.
