At a press conference ahead of the FIA awards ceremony in Baku, Red Bull Racing chief Christian Horner thanked the team for its hard work throughout the season and expressed doubts that similar results could be repeated in the future.
Christian Horner: “The team has had an excellent season. None of us could have imagined that we would achieve such results: twenty-one wins from twenty-two races, five wins from six sprints, we defended both titles and broke many records, some of which had been standing since 1988.
These results reflect that the team is performing at a phenomenal level in every respect, and it’s not just about the design of the car and the way we work with it. This includes production and support – the work of all departments is important. Reliability was also important: our partners at Honda provided us with an excellent quality product.
We managed to put all the components together. I doubt that we will be able to repeat this year’s results in the future.
Last season, Max Verstappen raised the bar even higher. The consistency of his performances proved to be of a phenomenal level. In some races, despite the qualifying problems, he performed great and continued to raise the bar.
It’s great to see how Max works with the team and his engineers. We are a real team and all our employees are hungry for success. Max leads us forward by sitting behind the wheel.”
