For much of Saturday’s sprint at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, Lewis Hamilton couldn’t beat Mick Schumacher in a Haas car which by definition isn’t as fast as a Mercedes.
In the end it worked, but the seven-time world champion lost too much time and got no further, earning just one point for 8th place.
“Mick has to fight for position and on top of that Haas had a certain advantage because our car has too much resistance,” said Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff. – In addition, we are probably not doing well with the efficiency of the machine as a whole. So we have to keep working.
We didn’t like the results of the sprint, on this track we lack the speed, unlike several earlier stages, where we excelled on Sunday. But it hasn’t worked here yet.”
