Formula E: Series suppliers for season 13 named

Formula E is preparing for its second season after the switch to the third generation of electric racing cars (Gen3), but the organizers of the electric series have already named the manufacturers who have confirmed their participation in the world championship in 2026/2027 and subsequent years .

It is in 2026, the year in which the 13th season of Formula E starts, that the transition to the next generation of technology must take place. An experimental car has already been shown in the past year, called GENBETA – basically it is a Gen3 electric car, but with a more powerful battery (400 kW instead of 350) and on softer tires that provide more effective traction.

In 2026, the battery supplier will change: the place of the British WAE (formerly Williams Advanced Engineering) will be taken by the Italian company Podium Advanced Technologies. Another Italian company, Marelli, remains the exclusive manufacturer of electric motors that transmit torque to the front wheels, while the rear wheels are driven by power units whose suppliers the teams choose.

French company Spark Racing Technology continues to produce the chassis.

According to calculations, the fourth-generation Formula E car will accelerate to 100 km/h in about 2 seconds and the efficiency of the recuperation system will almost double. During tests in London, the electric car of the GENBETA project accelerated to a speed of 218.7 km/h – this is a record for indoor circuits. The fact is that the races took place on the territory of the ExCel London exhibition complex, where the British podium of Formula E is held.

It is also worth noting that some elements of the car’s aerodynamic body kit, for example the end plates of the front fenders, are made using a 3D printer.

But the transition to a new generation of equipment will take place gradually: in the 12th season, teams will receive cars of the intermediate version Gen3.5. Season 13 will also see a change of tire supplier in Formula E – the place of the Korean company Hankook will be taken by the Japanese Bridgestone.
