The premiere of the film “Race for Glory” will take place in January.

We can say that a new wave of films of different genres devoted to motor racing and its heroes began ten years ago with the sensational film Rush, which in Russian distribution was inaccurately named “Race”.

The film, which premiered in the autumn of 2013, was dedicated to the history of the confrontation between two champions, Niki Lauda and James Hunt, in Formula 1 during the 1976 season. Lauda was then excellently played by the German actor Daniel Brühl, we will come back to him later.

After that there were many more different films and series, both fiction and documentaries, for example everyone remembers the excellent film “Ford v Ferrari”, also based on real events that took place in the 60s, when the American Ford team created a sensation by winning “24 Hours of Le Mans.

And now fans are waiting for the premiere of a new large-scale film, scheduled for January, made by Italian and British filmmakers, called “Race for Glory: Audi vs Lancia.”

This time we are talking about the very dramatic events of 1983, when the factory teams of two European companies – German Audi and Italian Lancia – competed on the circuits of the World Rally Championship.

The film’s director, the Italian Stefano Mordini, invited Daniel Brühl to play the role of the German engineer Roland Gumpert, one of the creators of the legendary Audi Quattro car, who headed Audi’s racing programs in the early 1980s .

But the challenge for the invincible Germans was laid by Lancia, where such a famous person as Cesare Fiorio then worked, and thanks to the new Lancia 037 car and a whole cohort of excellent racers, the Lancia Abarth team achieved a triumphant victory in both world championships. championship events. The role of Fiorio is played by Ricciardo Scarmacio, who also co-wrote and produced Race to Glory.

Among the actors involved in the film, known to the general public, is Volker Bruch, who played the famous German racer, two-time world rally champion Walter Röhrl. Bruch made famous the series “Babylon – Berlin”, in which he convincingly embodied on the screen the image of detective Gereon Rath, created by the imagination of the German writer Volker Kutscher.

The film is scheduled to premiere on January 5, but the filmmakers recently released a pretty impressive teaser…
