Valentino Rossi ends the GT season on the podium

We recently told you that Valentino Rossi will make his debut in the World Endurance Championship next year, where he will compete in the LMGT3 category for Team WRT and drive a BMW M4 GT3 sports car.

It can be said that the legendary Italian motorcycle racer, nine-time world champion, has already started an active preparation, as he ended the 2023 season with a very successful performance at yesterday’s 12 Hours of the Gulf Marathon, held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

The WRT crew of Rossi, Driz Vantur and Nick Uelloli finished second in the final round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge series. They lost just 12 seconds to the GruppeM team trio (Mikael Grenier, Luca Stolz and Maro Engel), who drove a Mercedes-AMG GT3 sports car.

Rossi’s team even had a chance to win the race, but an unfortunate problem with the car prevented this, losing the lead and allowing GruppeM rivals to take the lead. Nevertheless, after the finish Valentino and his teammates were genuinely happy with their second place, which can be considered a quite worthy end to the GT racing season.
