Mika Hakkinen called McLaren’s progress the most striking event of the past season in Formula 1. The two-time world champion suggested that the team will continue to surprise in 2024.
“Given the form McLaren started the season in and where they ended it in Abu Dhabi, the team’s progress was the highlight of the year for me,” said Mika Hakkinen, who won his two titles with the Woking-based team. “Their progress is not only visible from the outside, but also from within. They have a great team spirit and have made progress.
McLaren put all their attention into developing the car, and they did it very well. I think they will still surprise us all immensely. I think the only surprise that awaits us in 2024 is further progress from McLaren. In terms of car speed, they will probably be the team that makes life difficult for Red Bull.”
