Berman: The instructions for an F1 car are 30-40 pages

Formula 2 driver Oliver Burman completed two training sessions with Haas last season and a day of testing in Abu Dhabi, and we have already told his story about the differences between a Formula 1 and Formula 2 car. The British driver hopes the experience gained will help him next season, and one day he will move to Formula 1.

Oliver Berman: “The season was difficult because I had to constantly adapt to new situations, but that will continue, so I needed a year like this.

Haas had to do two training sessions with new recruits and they chose me for this role. Before the season and during the season I worked in the simulator using the Haas program. During this time we built a good relationship with the team, and then it was useful for me to compare the simulator and the real car.

The instructions for a Formula 1 car are 30-40 pages. I had to learn a lot, although I still don’t know some things. However, I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with the steering wheel switches and things like that.

Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsport, the fastest car in the world. I learned a lot from the simulator, but it was still difficult to feel confident driving a real car right away. The cost of making a mistake in the simulator is low, but nothing compares to the real car.

I’ve worked with Kevin a lot [Магнуссеном], and he told me many secrets about the Formula 1 car. His advice especially helped in Mexico City, because there is a specific circuit there. I have a good relationship with him and have learned a lot from him. Kevin is a very experienced and fast racer.

I don’t know what results await me in the future, but I hope I can perform well [в Формуле 2] and attract attention. The team seems happy with me, so hopefully sooner or later I will get the chance to get behind the wheel of Formula 1 again.”
