Without Adrian Newey, Fernando Alonso would probably have won more races and titles, because the Briton built his competitors’ cars. But Fernando showed nobility and said he was happy to perform at the same time as him.
Fernando Alonso: “Newey is a legend of our sport. We were very close to collaborating several times and talked about it. When he published the book in Spain a few years ago, I had the honor of writing the introduction.
Adriaan is an incredible person. I’m happy to be performing at the same time as him, even though we’ve never worked together. I’m happy to be alive and racing while Adrian builds Formula 1 cars.
I would like to work with him someday. I drive the Valkyrie at home (developed by Newey in a collaboration between Red Bull and Aston Martin) and maybe I already feel something when I get behind the wheel.
But Newey is responsible for the fact that riders who were not on his teams have not won championships for years.
