31-year-old Roberto Meri can hardly be called a young racer, but in Austria, due to circumstances, he returned to the youth series, to Formula 2, with the car of the Spanish Campos team.
And if things didn’t go well for him at the start of the weekend at the Red Bull Ring, then he distinguished himself on Sunday: after starting from the penultimate position, he broke through to second. Unfortunately, his result was not counted: the stewards added five penalty seconds to Mary’s result for non-compliance with the track limits, and in the final protocol of the race he was in 5th line.
Of course, this upset Robert very much, but many fans began to write to him on social networks that it was one of the best races in his entire long career.
Meri thanked those who supported him and dedicated his speech to Adrian Campos, the founder and former head of the Campos team, who passed away in January 2021.
“I would like to dedicate today’s race to Adrian Campos,” said Meri. – The result we showed today in a car with his name written on it fills me with pride. Thank you Adrian!
