There were rumors that Lawrence Stroll would be keen to sell the team if he received a serious offer, but in an interview with The New York Times, the Aston Martin owner categorically denied this.
Lawrence Stroll: “I don’t know where these rumors come from, but I have read about them in one or two publications recently.
You’re not going to spend hundreds of millions of pounds building a new base, the best in Formula 1. If you go bankrupt, you’re not going to hire 400 of the best people anymore.
I plan to run this company – both the team and the car company – for many, many years to come. In both cases I am at the beginning of my journey.
We have sold 10% of the team to Aramco, but we are not open to further investments. I want to remain the majority shareholder. This will never change. At least not for the next ten years, maybe longer.
I’m not getting younger every day. I feel young, but I’m not getting any younger. But I’m not going anywhere.”
