Esteban Ocon: “The season was uneven, with many ups and downs. There were some good moments, like Monaco and Spa, where we were very strong. But there were also races where we fell behind.
Every time there was an opportunity, we took it. This is cool. This is the way we must continue to act. We need to work on the speed and efficiency of the car, which some teams did better during the updates during the season. We must try to change this. We have been working with the 2024 car for a long time on the simulator, which we launched this season. He has to help us.
We want to close the gap, we want to become more competitive. We have no other wishes for the new year. Otherwise we will never be winners.
What do we need to improve? In everything. We are not the best on the straights, not the best in the corners, not the best with the tires. There is still a lot of work to be done, but I hope that we will eventually achieve good results.
For years I’ve kept notes on my phone about what we need to improve. I recently read my notes for 2020 and 2021 – since then we have resolved a lot of issues. But this did not always lead to better results, because other teams also do not stand still. We have to work smarter and better than other teams to get to the top.”
