The Austrian stage did not give Williams any points, but the team was able to assess the potential of the redesigned car, which was driven by Alex Albon this weekend.
Alex Albon (12th): “A nice match. We took risks, I had to load the tires to keep up with Valtteri – he was faster but I tried to go at his pace. I tried to earn points, today I couldn’t, but I’m still happy with the race.
From a distance we were practically in line with McLaren, I got into traffic every now and then, but I was happy with our speed – this weekend we took a step forward. It was the first real race with the new aerodynamic body kit. We will return to basics and carefully analyze everything to be in even better shape in France.”
Nicholas Latific (retirement): “At the start of the race I damaged the bottom, which caused me to run into the wreckage. Towards the end of the first stint I felt the balance deteriorate, at the start of the second there was not enough downforce and speed – and we decided to take the car out of the race to save the engine.
